How We Work
10 Gigabit Community
Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) has a fully built out 10-gigabit fiber optic network that provides the fastest Internet in the United States. Utilizing this state-of-the-art infrastructure allows customers to connect multiple devices easily and reliably from any business or home within the BTES Internet service area.
What is 10 gigabits?
In computer networking, Gigabit is a transmission technology term describing a data rate of 1 billion bits per second. One Gigabit-per-second service will carry a thousand times the data per second as a one-megabit-(Mb)-per-second service.
In other words, 10 Gigabits means continued job growth for our community, providing educational opportunities to our local schools that weren’t available before, and providing ultra-high speed connectivity for businesses to thrive.
Fiber Broadband Capabilities
Connecting homes and business directly to fiber optic cable enables enormous improvements in what bandwidth devices are capable of delivering. Current fiber optic technology can provide super high speed two-way transmission speeds – upload and download. As older technologies stretch the limits of their performance or speed, constant improvements in fiber optic technology and equipment can improve how much bandwidth is available without having to deploy a new network. That’s why fiber networks are said to be “futureproof.”
Fastest Internet in the United States
BTES is the local, hometown provider for Bristol, Tennessee and provides the fastest Internet in the United States. This means that BTES’ help desk and customer service departments are located within the community it serves.
Thanks to BTES’ fast Internet speeds, Bristol Tennessee was recently recognized by AdvisorSmith as having the fastest Internet speeds available to residents in the small city category (10,000-100,000 residents).
